Description

Soft, fluffy homemade dinner rolls that come together in just 30 minutes. These lightly golden rolls have a tender, pillowy inside and are perfect for busy weeknights, holidays, or whenever you need fresh bread fast.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F/45°C)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
  3. Add warm water and vegetable oil (or melted butter). Mix until a soft dough forms. Add extra flour 1 tablespoon at a time if dough is too sticky.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a ball.
  6. Place the dough balls in the prepared baking dish, leaving a little space between each. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until tops are golden brown.
  8. Brush with melted butter immediately after baking, if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure water is warm but not too hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • For active dry yeast, dissolve it in warm water with a pinch of sugar and let sit for 5 minutes before mixing.
  • Add garlic powder or dried herbs for a savory variation.
  • For sweeter rolls, increase sugar slightly and brush with honey butter after baking.
  • Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top before baking for added texture.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
