Description
Soft, fluffy homemade dinner rolls that come together in just 30 minutes. These lightly golden rolls have a tender, pillowy inside and are perfect for busy weeknights, holidays, or whenever you need fresh bread fast.
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F/45°C)
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
- Add warm water and vegetable oil (or melted butter). Mix until a soft dough forms. Add extra flour 1 tablespoon at a time if dough is too sticky.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a ball.
- Place the dough balls in the prepared baking dish, leaving a little space between each. Let rest for 10 minutes.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until tops are golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter immediately after baking, if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- Ensure water is warm but not too hot to avoid killing the yeast.
- For active dry yeast, dissolve it in warm water with a pinch of sugar and let sit for 5 minutes before mixing.
- Add garlic powder or dried herbs for a savory variation.
- For sweeter rolls, increase sugar slightly and brush with honey butter after baking.
- Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top before baking for added texture.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
