Description

These air fryer calzones are golden and crisp on the outside, warm and cheesy on the inside, and incredibly easy to customize with your favorite fillings. Perfect for a quick, comforting meal without heating up the oven.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping)
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni (or preferred filling)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Divide the pizza dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle about 6 to 7 inches wide on a lightly floured surface.
  2. Spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce over one half of each dough circle, leaving a small border around the edge.
  3. Add mozzarella cheese, a spoonful of ricotta, and pepperoni (or other fillings) on top of the sauce. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
  4. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together and seal tightly with a fork.
  5. Lightly brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  7. Place the calzones in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving with extra pizza sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the calzones to prevent bursting during cooking.
  • Seal edges firmly with a fork for best results.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3 to 5 minutes for a crisp crust.
  • Freeze cooled calzones individually wrapped for up to 2 months.
