Description
Crispy and cheesy air fryer jalapeno poppers filled with a creamy blend of cheeses, topped with crunchy breadcrumbs, and cooked until golden for a quick and flavorful appetizer.
Ingredients
- 6 fresh jalapeno peppers, halved lengthwise and seeds removed
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil spray or cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the jalapenos in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes to reduce heat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix until the filling becomes smooth and evenly combined.
- Spoon the cheese mixture into each jalapeno half, filling them generously but keeping the filling level with the top.
- Lightly spray the tops with olive oil spray and sprinkle the panko breadcrumbs over the filling.
- Place the stuffed jalapenos in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Air fry for 8–10 minutes until the jalapenos are tender and the tops are golden and crispy.
- Let the poppers cool for a few minutes before serving because the filling will be very hot.
Notes
- Remove the seeds and membranes to make the poppers less spicy.
- Pepper jack cheese can be used for a spicier filling.
- For extra crunch, coat the filling completely with breadcrumbs before air frying.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3–4 minutes to keep them crispy.
- Stuffed uncooked poppers can be frozen for up to 2 months and cooked directly from frozen.
