Description

Apple fritter waffle donuts are a delicious fusion of apple fritters, waffles, and donuts. They feature a spiced apple batter cooked in a waffle iron, then glazed for the perfect crispy, soft, and sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat eggs with granulated and brown sugar until light. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
  4. Gently stir in diced apples.
  5. Preheat and lightly grease waffle iron.
  6. Scoop batter into the iron, close, and cook until golden brown and crisp.
  7. Let cool slightly. Whisk powdered sugar and milk to make glaze.
  8. Dip or drizzle waffle donuts with glaze before serving.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best results.
  • Add a pinch of cloves or ginger for extra spice.
  • Sour cream or Greek yogurt can replace part of the milk for richer texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2–5 days, or freeze up to 2 months.
  • Reheat in toaster oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
