Ingredients
- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp preferred)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions
- Peel, core, and dice the apples into small pieces.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the apples and lemon juice, stirring to coat.
- Mix in the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Cook for 5–7 minutes until the apples begin to soften.
- Stir in the cornstarch-water mixture. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and butter until melted and smooth.
- Let cool slightly before transferring to a bowl or serving dish.
