Description

Big Mac Sloppy Joes are a fun and flavorful mash-up of the iconic fast-food burger and a classic sloppy joe. Made with seasoned ground beef, a creamy tangy sauce, chopped pickles, melted cheese, and shredded lettuce on a toasted sesame bun, this one-skillet meal is perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 slices American cheese or 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • 1/4 cup dill pickles, chopped
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 46 sesame seed hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  2. Drain any excess grease, then add chopped onion and garlic. Cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. While the meat cooks, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper in a bowl to make the special sauce.
  4. Stir half of the sauce into the beef mixture and combine well.
  5. Add chopped pickles and cheese to the skillet. Stir until cheese is fully melted and incorporated.
  6. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes while you toast the hamburger buns.
  7. To assemble, spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom bun, drizzle with remaining sauce, top with shredded lettuce, and cover with the top bun.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
  • For added crunch, top with extra chopped pickles or onions before serving.
  • For a spicier twist, add hot sauce to the beef or sauce mixture.
  • Serve the mixture over lettuce for a low-carb Big Mac salad.
