Description

A hearty twist on the classic grilled cheese, this breakfast sandwich features creamy scrambled eggs, savory sausage, and melty cheese between buttery, golden-brown bread slices. Perfect for a filling morning meal.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick-cut bread (white, sourdough, or brioche)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 breakfast sausage links or 1/2 cup crumbled sausage
  • 1 cup shredded or 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or blend)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Slice or crumble if needed after cooking.
  2. In a bowl, whisk eggs with milk or cream (if using), and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Scramble eggs in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until just set and fluffy.
  4. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  5. Layer cheese, scrambled eggs, sausage, and more cheese on the unbuttered side of one slice.
  6. Top with the second slice, buttered side out.
