Ingredients
- 4 slices thick-cut bread (white, sourdough, or brioche)
- 4 large eggs
- 4 breakfast sausage links or 1/2 cup crumbled sausage
- 1 cup shredded or 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or blend)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons milk or cream (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Slice or crumble if needed after cooking.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs with milk or cream (if using), and season with salt and pepper.
- Scramble eggs in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until just set and fluffy.
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- Layer cheese, scrambled eggs, sausage, and more cheese on the unbuttered side of one slice.
- Top with the second slice, buttered side out.
- Grill sandwich in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown and cheese is melted, flipping once.
