Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 8 oz cremini or white mushrooms, sliced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Cooked egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken strips, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt butter and sauté onions until soft and translucent. Add garlic and mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms release their moisture and start to brown.
- Sprinkle in paprika and flour, stirring to evenly coat the mushrooms and onions.
- Pour in chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir until smooth and simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in the sour cream until fully incorporated. Return the chicken to the pan and simmer for another 3–4 minutes.
- Serve hot over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice. Garnish with fresh parsley.
