Description

Fun sweet-and-savory sliders made with crispy chicken pieces sandwiched between fluffy homemade waffles and finished with a drizzle of maple syrup. Perfect for brunch, parties, or casual meals.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups cooked crispy chicken tenders, cut into slider-size pieces
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or butter for greasing the waffle iron

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter.
  3. Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until the batter becomes smooth.
  4. Preheat the waffle iron and lightly grease it with vegetable oil or butter.
  5. Pour batter into the waffle iron and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  6. Remove the waffles and cut them into small squares suitable for sliders.
  7. Ensure the chicken tenders are hot and crispy; warm them in the oven if necessary.
  8. To assemble, place one waffle square on the bottom, add a piece of crispy chicken, and drizzle with maple syrup.
  9. Top with another waffle square and secure with a toothpick if needed.
  10. Repeat until all sliders are assembled and serve warm.

Notes

  • Spread honey butter on the waffles before assembling for added sweetness.
  • Mix hot sauce with maple syrup or sprinkle cayenne pepper for a spicy variation.
  • Try flavored waffles such as cheddar or cornmeal waffles for a different twist.
  • Store chicken and waffles separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat chicken in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 10 minutes and warm waffles in a toaster or oven before assembling.
