Description

A warm, sweet, and comforting breakfast casserole that combines soft cinnamon rolls with rich French toast custard, baked to golden perfection and topped with sweet icing.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (12.4 ounces each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls, icing reserved
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters and spread evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and melted butter until fully combined.
  4. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces, gently pressing them down to soak.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown and the center is set.
  6. Warm the reserved icing for a few seconds in the microwave and drizzle over the casserole before serving.

Notes

  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch.
  • Mix in chocolate chips for extra sweetness.
  • Add blueberries or diced apples for a fruity variation.
  • Substitute brown sugar for maple syrup for a deeper flavor.
  • Prepare the night before and refrigerate overnight before baking.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
