Description
Crispy Chilli Beef Rice is a bold and flavorful stir-fry dish with crispy strips of beef tossed in a sweet and spicy chili sauce, served over fluffy rice. It’s perfect for a quick, satisfying weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Beef:
1 lb flank steak or sirloin (thinly sliced)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2–3 tablespoons vegetable oil
Sauce:
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon chili paste or sriracha
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 teaspoon ginger (minced)
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
Rice:
2 cups cooked jasmine rice
1/2 cup green onions (sliced, for garnish)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss sliced beef with cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper until coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Fry beef in batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, vinegar, hoisin, sugar, chili paste, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
- In the same skillet, pour in the sauce mixture and simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return beef to the pan and toss until evenly coated in sauce.
- Serve beef over cooked rice. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
Use tofu instead of beef for a vegetarian option.
Add bell peppers or broccoli for extra vegetables.
Adjust chili paste to control heat level.
Reheat beef in a skillet to maintain crispiness.
