Description

Crispy Chilli Beef Rice is a bold and flavorful stir-fry dish with crispy strips of beef tossed in a sweet and spicy chili sauce, served over fluffy rice. It’s perfect for a quick, satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Beef:

1 lb flank steak or sirloin (thinly sliced)

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

23 tablespoons vegetable oil

Sauce:

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon chili paste or sriracha

2 cloves garlic (minced)

1 teaspoon ginger (minced)

1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

Rice:

2 cups cooked jasmine rice

1/2 cup green onions (sliced, for garnish)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss sliced beef with cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper until coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Fry beef in batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, vinegar, hoisin, sugar, chili paste, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
  4. In the same skillet, pour in the sauce mixture and simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Return beef to the pan and toss until evenly coated in sauce.
  6. Serve beef over cooked rice. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Use tofu instead of beef for a vegetarian option.

Add bell peppers or broccoli for extra vegetables.

Adjust chili paste to control heat level.

Reheat beef in a skillet to maintain crispiness.
