Ingredients
- 12–16 large marshmallows
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil (for frying, about 4 cups)
- Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
- Whisk in milk and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and thick enough to coat marshmallows.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Using wooden skewers or forks, dip each marshmallow into the batter, fully coating it.
- Carefully lower the coated marshmallows into the hot oil and fry in small batches for 1-2 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Once slightly cooled, dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Roll fried marshmallows in crushed graham crackers or cinnamon sugar for extra flavor.
- Try dipping in chocolate sauce or caramel for a decadent twist.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one day.
- Reheat gently in an air fryer or oven, though crispiness may lessen.
- Large marshmallows are best as they hold up better during frying.
- Use vegetable or canola oil for frying due to their high smoke points.
