Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 cups beef broth or stock
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley or basil, chopped (for garnish)
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Season with salt, pepper, oregano, paprika, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Mix in tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes to deepen the flavor.
- Add diced tomatoes and beef broth; bring to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in the orzo, reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once orzo is tender and sauce is thickened, remove from heat.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and parmesan cheese before serving.
