Description

This Dill Pickle Hot Sauce is a tangy, spicy condiment that combines the zesty flavor of dill pickles with the heat of hot peppers. Perfect for drizzling over grilled meats, sandwiches, or mixing into dressings, it’s a bold and versatile sauce with a unique twist.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chopped dill pickles (plus 2 tablespoons brine)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 jalapeños or green chilies, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill
  • 1/4 cup water (adjust as needed for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Add vinegar, chopped pickles, garlic, chilies, mustard seeds, sugar, and salt to a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for about 10 minutes until softened.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Transfer mixture to a blender. Add fresh dill and pickle brine.
  5. Blend until smooth, adding water as needed to reach desired consistency.
  6. Optional: Strain through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture.
  7. Pour into sterilized bottles or jars and store in the fridge.

Notes

  • Use serrano or habanero peppers for more heat.
  • Add honey or extra sugar for a sweeter version.
  • Apple cider vinegar can be used for a fruitier flavor.
  • Unstrained sauce gives a chunkier texture.
  • Shake before use if thickened in the fridge.
