Description
Easy Black Pepper Chicken is a bold, flavorful dish featuring tender chicken pieces tossed in a peppery, savory sauce. Quick to prepare and made with simple ingredients, it’s perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs (cut into bite-sized pieces)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion (sliced)
4 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper (adjust to taste)
1/4 cup chicken broth or water
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Salt, to taste
Fresh cilantro (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Season chicken with salt and 1 teaspoon black pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken until golden and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add remaining olive oil. Sauté onion for 2-3 minutes, then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, chicken broth, and remaining black pepper. Add to the skillet and stir well.
- Optional: Mix cornstarch with water to make a slurry, and add to the skillet. Stir until sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
- Return chicken to the skillet and coat evenly in sauce. Cook for 2-3 minutes to blend flavors.
- Garnish with cilantro and serve over rice or noodles.
Notes
Add chili flakes or fresh chili for more heat.
Use chicken thighs for juicier results.
Add bell peppers or broccoli for extra veggies.
Serve with steamed jasmine rice or stir-fried noodles.
