Ingredients
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 400 g)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then lightly coat them with flour.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and cook the chicken for 5–6 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt the butter and add minced garlic. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add honey, soy sauce, and vinegar, stirring to combine.
- Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes. If desired, mix cornstarch with water and stir it in to thicken the sauce.
- Return the chicken to the pan and spoon the sauce over it. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until well coated and heated through.
Notes
- Add chili flakes for a spicy variation.
- You can include vegetables like broccoli or green beans for a complete meal.
- Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts for a juicier result.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of water to maintain moisture.
