Ingredients
- 6 cups rice cereal
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup strawberry flavored Jello mix (or strawberry gelatin)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, measure out the rice cereal and set it aside.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and white chocolate chips together in the microwave. Stir in 30-second intervals until smooth.
- Once melted, add in the strawberry gelatin, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine.
- Pour the melted mixture over the rice cereal. Gently toss until all the cereal is coated in the mixture.
- In a separate large zip-top bag or bowl, combine the powdered sugar and the strawberry-coated cereal. Seal the bag and shake it up to coat the cereal evenly with the powdered sugar.
- Spread the finished puppy chow out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to let it cool and set.
- Once it’s cooled, store it in an airtight container, and it’s ready to enjoy!
Notes
- For a richer strawberry flavor, add freeze-dried strawberries for extra crunch and sweetness.
- Mix in dark or milk chocolate chips for a chocolate twist.
- Use certified gluten-free rice cereal for a gluten-free version.
- It stores well for 3-4 days at room temperature, or keep it in the fridge for a firmer texture.
- You can freeze this treat for up to a month and let it thaw at room temperature before enjoying it.
