Description

This Easy Strawberry Shortcake Puppy Chow is a no-bake treat combining crunchy cereal with a strawberry and white chocolate coating. It’s a sweet, easy snack that’s perfect for satisfying cravings.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups rice cereal
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup strawberry flavored Jello mix (or strawberry gelatin)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, measure out the rice cereal and set it aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and white chocolate chips together in the microwave. Stir in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  3. Once melted, add in the strawberry gelatin, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine.
  4. Pour the melted mixture over the rice cereal. Gently toss until all the cereal is coated in the mixture.
  5. In a separate large zip-top bag or bowl, combine the powdered sugar and the strawberry-coated cereal. Seal the bag and shake it up to coat the cereal evenly with the powdered sugar.
  6. Spread the finished puppy chow out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to let it cool and set.
  7. Once it’s cooled, store it in an airtight container, and it’s ready to enjoy!

Notes

  • For a richer strawberry flavor, add freeze-dried strawberries for extra crunch and sweetness.
  • Mix in dark or milk chocolate chips for a chocolate twist.
  • Use certified gluten-free rice cereal for a gluten-free version.
  • It stores well for 3-4 days at room temperature, or keep it in the fridge for a firmer texture.
  • You can freeze this treat for up to a month and let it thaw at room temperature before enjoying it.
