Description
Crispy fried chicken breasts with a golden seasoned coating and juicy, tender meat inside. This easy comfort-food recipe uses simple pantry staples and is perfect for family dinners, sandwiches, or meal prep.
Ingredients
- 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 450 g), sliced in half lengthwise to make 4 thinner pieces
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
- 1 cup (240 ml) vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and gently pound them until they are an even thickness.
- In one bowl, mix the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
- Dip each chicken piece into the flour mixture first, then into the egg mixture, and finally back into the flour mixture for a second coating.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat until hot.
- Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the skillet.
- Fry for 5 to 7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the fried chicken to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, let the coated chicken rest for 5 minutes before frying.
- Chicken is fully cooked when the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).
- For a spicy version, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
- You can add grated Parmesan cheese or dried herbs like thyme or oregano to the coating for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in an oven or air fryer at 180°C (350°F) for 8 to 10 minutes to help restore crispiness.
