Description
Tender, juicy beef bites seared in garlic butter and served alongside creamy, buttery mashed potatoes for a comforting, flavor-packed meal.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter (for potatoes)
- Salt and pepper, to taste (for potatoes)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add potatoes. Cook until tender, about 15 minutes.
- While potatoes cook, pat beef cubes dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and 2 tbsp butter.
- Add beef cubes in a single layer, searing for 1-2 minutes per side until browned. Remove to a plate and cover to keep warm.
- Reduce heat to medium, add remaining 2 tbsp butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Return beef to skillet and toss in garlic butter for 1 minute. Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
- Drain cooked potatoes and return to pot. Add milk, cream, and butter. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season to taste.
- Serve beef bites over or alongside mashed potatoes, drizzling extra garlic butter from the pan on top.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the garlic butter.
- Use Yukon Gold potatoes for a richer, creamier mash.
- Do not overcrowd the beef in the skillet to ensure a good sear.
