Description
A flavorful and savory dish featuring tender shrimp sautéed with garlic and simmered in a rich tomato sauce, perfect for serving over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz / 400 g) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
Instructions
- Pat the shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, paprika, oregano, red pepper flakes, and sugar if using. Simmer for 8–10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add the shrimp to the sauce and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, until pink and opaque.
- Stir in lemon juice and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
- Serve hot over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.
Notes
- Do not overcook shrimp or they will become rubbery.
- Adjust spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes.
- Fresh tomatoes can be used instead of canned for a lighter flavor.
