Description

Soft, chewy heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies that combine the charm of a festive shape with the classic comfort of a traditional cookie. Perfect for  anniversaries or sweet gifts.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and combined.
  4. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
  5. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly.
  7. Roll the dough out between two sheets of parchment paper to about 1/4 inch thick and chill for 30 minutes.
  8. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are just golden.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Chill the dough before cutting to help cookies retain their shape.
  • Try adding pink sprinkles or white chocolate for a festive touch.
  • Drizzle with melted chocolate or icing after baking for decoration.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze baked cookies for up to 3 months.
