Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and combined.
- Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
- Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips evenly.
- Roll the dough out between two sheets of parchment paper to about 1/4 inch thick and chill for 30 minutes.
- Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are just golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
