A simple, hearty casserole made with seasoned ground beef, tender sliced potatoes, and a creamy, cheesy topping baked into a comforting one-dish meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 can (10.5 oz / 300 g) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
- 1 1/2 cups (170 g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef with the chopped onion until browned and softened.
- Drain excess fat and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Grease a baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom.
- Spread half of the beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Repeat layers with remaining potatoes and beef.
- In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup with milk until smooth.
- Pour the mixture evenly over the casserole.
- Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes.
- Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and potatoes are tender.

- Swap cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken for a flavor variation.
- Add vegetables like carrots or green beans for extra nutrition.
