Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips gently.
- Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheet, leaving space between cookies.
- Bake 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden and centers look slightly soft.
- Cool on baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, use more brown sugar than white sugar.
- Chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes makes thicker cookies.
- Sprinkle sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty twist.
- Store cookies in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them soft.
- Dough and baked cookies can be frozen for up to 3 months.
