Description
A rich, versatile chocolate sauce that can be poured over desserts or mixed into drinks. Smooth, chocolatey, and easy to make.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup white sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1½ tablespoons all‑purpose flour
- 1¼ cups milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (or more to taste)
- a tiny pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, and flour to remove lumps.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk, butter, and vanilla extract until butter melts.
- Add the dry ingredients gradually into the milk mixture, whisking constantly.
- Increase the heat to medium‑high until it comes to a simmer, stirring constantly.
- Cook for about 6 minutes, then remove from heat and whisk in the pinch of salt.
- Serve hot over desserts (e.g. ice cream) or allow to cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
- The sauce thickens as it cools, so adjust cooking time depending on how thick you want it.
- Vanilla enhances flavor—feel free to use pure vanilla extract for best taste.
- Store refrigerated; reheat gently before using.
- You can adjust sweetness by using less sugar or substituting part of it with alternative sweeteners.
