Description

A rich and flavorful homemade pizza sauce made from simple pantry ingredients. Perfect for spreading on pizza dough before adding your favorite toppings.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce and tomato paste until well combined.
  4. Add oregano, basil, sugar, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  5. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and allow to cool before using on pizza.

Notes

  • Adjust seasonings to taste.
  • Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Freezes well for up to 3 months.
