A rich and flavorful homemade pizza sauce made from simple pantry ingredients. Perfect for spreading on pizza dough before adding your favorite toppings.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in tomato sauce and tomato paste until well combined.
- Add oregano, basil, sugar, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool before using on pizza.
Notes
- Adjust seasonings to taste.
- Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- Freezes well for up to 3 months.
