Description
A creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet KFC-style coleslaw with a finely chopped texture, perfect as a refreshing side dish for fried foods or sandwiches.
Ingredients
- 6 cups finely chopped green cabbage
- 1/4 cup shredded carrot
- 2 tablespoons minced onion
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Finely chop the green cabbage until it reaches a very small, uniform texture.
- Add the shredded carrot and minced onion to the cabbage in a large bowl and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, lemon juice, white vinegar, salt, and black pepper until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and stir thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly coated.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for best flavor.
- Stir well before serving and serve chilled.
Notes
- For best texture, chop cabbage very finely using a sharp knife or food processor.
- Chilling overnight enhances flavor and consistency.
- Adjust sugar to taste for a less sweet version.
- Apple cider vinegar can be used instead of white vinegar for a different tang.
- Add a pinch of celery seed for extra flavor if desired.
- Use low-fat mayonnaise for a lighter version.
