Description

Fluffy, golden pancakes made from scratch using simple pantry staples. These old-fashioned pancakes are perfect for a classic breakfast or weekend brunch.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1¼ cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg, then stir in the melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the griddle. Cook until bubbles form and edges look set.
  6. Flip and cook until the other side is browned. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter for fluffier pancakes.
  • Let the batter rest for 5 minutes before cooking for better texture.
  • Add chocolate chips, blueberries, or spices for variation.
  • Swap half the milk for buttermilk for a tangier flavor.
