Description
This One‑Skillet Cajun Honey Garlic Sausage & Rice is a bold and comforting dish featuring smoky sausage, spicy Cajun seasoning, sweet honey, and garlic all tossed with tender rice — made in one skillet for easy cleanup.
Ingredients
- 14 ounces smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
- 1 cup long-grain white rice, rinsed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1½ teaspoons Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cups chicken broth (low sodium preferred)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sausage slices; sear them until browned on both sides (about 3–4 minutes per side).
- Stir in the minced garlic and Cajun seasoning; cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the rinsed rice; stir to coat with the seasoning, sausage drippings, and oil.
- Pour in the chicken broth; bring to a low boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 18–20 minutes, until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat, drizzle honey over the dish, and gently stir to combine.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- Use turkey, chicken, or plant-based sausage to lighten the dish.
- Brown rice can be used but will need more liquid and a longer cook time.
- Add vegetables like bell peppers, corn, or spinach for extra nutrition.
- Replace honey with maple syrup or agave if needed.
- Adjust spice level by modifying Cajun seasoning or sausage type.
