Description
Tender beef bites slow-cooked in a honey garlic sauce, served with rice or noodles and garnished with sesame seeds and parsley or scallions.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 pounds stew beef
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Fresh parsley or scallions (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (if needed for thickening)
Instructions
- Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the stew beef until browned on all sides (you’re not cooking it through, just locking in flavor).
- Add the browned steak bites to the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together minced garlic, honey, ketchup, soy sauce, and oregano. Pour this mixture over the beef in the slow cooker and stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 4 hours, or until the beef is tender.
- If the sauce gets too thick before the beef is tender, add ½ cup water to the slow cooker.
- If the sauce is too thin, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with ¼ cup water to form a slurry, then stir it into the sauce.
- Once the beef is tender and the sauce is the right consistency, garnish with sesame seeds and fresh parsley or scallions. Serve over rice (or noodles) and enjoy!
Notes
- The beef will darken in color due to the soy sauce.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Every slow cooker runs differently; keep on LOW to avoid burning the honey. Some may take up to 6 hours.
