A simple and flavorful slow cooker dish featuring tender chicken in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, dried basil, and black pepper.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 4–6 hours or on high for 2–3 hours, until chicken is cooked through and tender.
- If desired, remove chicken and stir in the cornstarch mixture into the sauce. Cook on high for 15–20 minutes to thicken.
- Return chicken to the sauce and serve over rice or vegetables.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle some red pepper flakes for heat.
- Shred the chicken after cooking for a saucier texture.
- Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds.
