Description

Juicy hamburger steaks smothered in a rich mushroom gravy, perfect for a cozy, comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup minced onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced onion, salt, and pepper. Shape into four loose patties.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté sliced onion and garlic until golden and fragrant.
  3. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, water, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
  4. Place patties into the skillet, spooning sauce over the top.
  5. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until patties are fully cooked.

Notes

  • For a homemade gravy, use a roux with butter, flour, milk, and fresh mushrooms.
  • Dried onion flakes can be substituted for fresh onion.
  • Soy sauce with a pinch of brown sugar works as a Worcestershire replacement.
  • Adding sliced mushrooms or cream can deepen the flavor.
