Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup minced onion
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (10.75 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced onion, salt, and pepper. Shape into four loose patties.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté sliced onion and garlic until golden and fragrant.
- Stir in cream of mushroom soup, water, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
- Place patties into the skillet, spooning sauce over the top.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until patties are fully cooked.
Notes
- For a homemade gravy, use a roux with butter, flour, milk, and fresh mushrooms.
- Dried onion flakes can be substituted for fresh onion.
- Soy sauce with a pinch of brown sugar works as a Worcestershire replacement.
- Adding sliced mushrooms or cream can deepen the flavor.
