Description
A bold and smoky Spicy Chipotle Chicken Burger featuring juicy chicken patties infused with chipotle peppers in adobo, paired with a creamy chipotle mayo and fresh toppings, all ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons adobo sauce
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs (or panko)
- 1 egg
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon lime juice (for mayo)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (for mayo)
- Salt, to taste (for mayo)
- 4 burger buns, toasted
- 4 slices pepper jack cheese (optional)
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced tomatoes
- Sliced red onions
- Pickled jalapeños (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground chicken, chopped chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, lime juice, breadcrumbs, and egg until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into four portions and shape into patties. Press a small indentation in the center of each.
- Cook the patties: grill on medium-high heat or pan-fry for 5–6 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 165 °F (75 °C). Add cheese slices in the last minute if using.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, chopped chipotle pepper, lime juice, garlic powder, and salt to make the chipotle mayo. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Assemble burgers by spreading chipotle mayo on the bottom buns, then layering with lettuce, a chicken patty, tomato, red onion, and jalapeños. Top with the upper buns.
- Serve immediately with fries, coleslaw, or a fresh salad.
Notes
- Adjust spice level by modifying the number of chipotle peppers used.
- Panko breadcrumbs add extra crispness compared to regular breadcrumbs.
- Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese are good substitutes for pepper jack.
- Patties can be baked at 400 °F for 12–15 minutes as a healthier option.
- Store leftover patties in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven or skillet.
