Description
A classic layered dessert featuring a salty pretzel crust, creamy cream cheese filling, and a sweet strawberry gelatin topping with fresh strawberries. Perfect for potlucks, family gatherings, or any occasion.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups pretzels, crushed
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (for crust)
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
- 8 oz whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
- 6 oz strawberry gelatin mix (like Jell-O)
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 2 cups boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Crush pretzels into fine pieces, mix with sugar and melted butter. Press firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch pan and bake for 10 minutes until golden. Let cool completely.
- In a bowl, beat softened cream cheese with sugar until smooth. Gently fold in whipped topping until combined. Spread evenly over cooled pretzel crust.
- Dissolve strawberry gelatin in boiling water. Let cool slightly without setting. Arrange sliced strawberries over the cream cheese layer, then pour gelatin evenly on top.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight until gelatin is fully set.
Notes
- Ensure crust is completely cooled before adding filling to prevent sogginess.
- Fresh strawberries work best for texture and flavor.
- Can be made a day in advance for best flavor melding.
- For a twist, use other berries or add lemon juice to the filling.
