Description

These sweet air fryer churro bites are golden and crisp on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, and coated in a delicious cinnamon-sugar mixture. They deliver classic churro flavor with less oil and mess, making them a quick and comforting dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Cooking spray (as needed)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a gentle boil, ensuring the butter melts completely.
  2. Reduce heat to low and add the flour all at once. Stir continuously until the dough pulls away from the sides and forms a smooth ball.
  3. Remove from heat and let the dough cool for about 5 minutes.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract and egg until the dough becomes smooth and pipeable.
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  6. Pipe small bite-sized pieces into the basket, leaving space between each. Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray.
  7. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Roll warm churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra indulgence, fill with chocolate or dulce de leche after cooling slightly.
  • Dough can be prepared a few hours ahead and refrigerated; bring closer to room temperature before piping.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3–4 minutes to restore crispness.
  • Can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes if no air fryer is available.
