Description

Juicy and flavorful BBQ chicken with a smoky, caramelized glaze that’s easy to make whether grilled or baked.


Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken (thighs, drumsticks, or mixed)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium heat or oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
  3. In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, onion powder, and brown sugar.
  4. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken.
  5. Place chicken on the grill and cook for 25–30 minutes, turning occasionally, or bake in the oven for 35–40 minutes.
  6. Mix BBQ sauce with apple cider vinegar.
  7. During the last 10 minutes of cooking, brush the chicken generously with the sauce, turning and reapplying to build a glaze.
  8. Cook until the chicken is fully done (internal temperature 75°C / 165°F).
  9. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Marinate chicken for a few hours or overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Use a honey-based BBQ sauce for a sweeter taste.
  • Add chili flakes or hot sauce for extra spice.
  • Broil for a few minutes after baking to enhance caramelization.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
