Description
Juicy and flavorful BBQ chicken with a smoky, caramelized glaze that’s easy to make whether grilled or baked.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken (thighs, drumsticks, or mixed)
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium heat or oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, onion powder, and brown sugar.
- Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken.
- Place chicken on the grill and cook for 25–30 minutes, turning occasionally, or bake in the oven for 35–40 minutes.
- Mix BBQ sauce with apple cider vinegar.
- During the last 10 minutes of cooking, brush the chicken generously with the sauce, turning and reapplying to build a glaze.
- Cook until the chicken is fully done (internal temperature 75°C / 165°F).
- Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Marinate chicken for a few hours or overnight for deeper flavor.
- Use a honey-based BBQ sauce for a sweeter taste.
- Add chili flakes or hot sauce for extra spice.
- Broil for a few minutes after baking to enhance caramelization.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
