Description
A creamy, refreshing Mediterranean tzatziki sauce made with Greek yogurt, cucumber, lemon, garlic, and fresh dill. Perfect as a dip, spread, or sauce for grilled meats, sandwiches, and vegetables.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
- 1/2 large cucumber, grated and excess liquid squeezed out
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Grate the cucumber and squeeze out as much liquid as possible using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
- In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, olive oil, lemon juice, and minced garlic.
- Stir in the chopped dill, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix everything together until smooth and well combined.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend before serving.
Notes
- For best texture, thoroughly squeeze excess moisture from the cucumber.
- Fresh mint can be substituted for dill for a different flavor profile.
- Add an extra half clove of garlic for a stronger garlic flavor.
- For thicker consistency, strain the yogurt before mixing.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and stir before serving.
- Do not freeze as texture may change after thawing.
