Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 large croissants, sliced in half
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 8 pickle slices
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Lettuce leaves for serving
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal balls without overworking the meat.
- Mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard together in a small bowl to create the burger sauce.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and lightly coat it with vegetable oil.
- Place the beef balls onto the hot skillet and smash them flat using a sturdy spatula or burger press. Season the patties with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Cook the patties for about 2 minutes until the edges become crispy, then flip them and immediately top with cheddar cheese slices. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.
- In a separate pan, sauté the onions in butter until soft and lightly caramelized.
- Lightly toast the croissant halves on the skillet until golden.
- Spread the burger sauce onto the croissants, then layer lettuce, cheesy smash patties, onions, and pickles.
- Top with the croissant halves and serve immediately while hot.
