Description

A fresh and vibrant salsa fresca made with juicy tomatoes, crisp onions, jalapeño, and lime juice for the perfect homemade pico de gallo.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium ripe tomatoes, diced (about 500 g)
  • 1/2 medium white onion, finely chopped (about 80 g)
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (15 g)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (30 ml)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place diced tomatoes into a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add chopped onion, diced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.
  3. Pour in the fresh lime juice.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Add minced garlic if using.
  6. Gently stir everything together until evenly combined.
  7. Let the salsa rest for 10–15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  8. Taste and adjust lime juice or salt if needed before serving.

Notes

  • Use Roma tomatoes for a firmer texture and less excess liquid.
  • Remove jalapeño seeds for a milder salsa.
  • Add diced avocado or mango for variation.
  • Serve fresh for the best texture and flavor.
  • Stir before serving if stored, as tomatoes release liquid over time.
