Description

A bright and refreshing mango salsa made with juicy ripe mangoes, crisp vegetables, zesty lime juice, and a hint of heat. Perfect as a dip, topping, or side dish, it delivers a balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 large ripe mangoes (about 2 cups), peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1/2 avocado, diced
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon honey

Instructions

  1. Peel and dice the mangoes into small, even cubes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the mango, red onion, red bell pepper, and jalapeño.
  3. Add the chopped cilantro, lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Gently toss everything together until well combined.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more lime juice or salt if needed.
  6. If using, gently fold in diced avocado just before serving.
  7. Let the salsa rest for 10–15 minutes to allow flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm mangoes for the best texture.
  • Adjust spice level by adding or removing jalapeño seeds.
  • Add diced pineapple or papaya for extra sweetness and tropical flavor.
  • Mix in cucumber or jicama for additional crunch.
  • A squeeze of orange juice can enhance sweetness and citrus flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Stir before serving and refresh with extra lime juice if needed.
  • Do not freeze as texture will become watery.
