Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- Cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the cake light and tender.
- You can add lemon zest, chocolate chips, or nuts for variation.
- If using salted butter, reduce the added salt slightly.
- Substitute milk with yogurt or plant-based milk if needed.
- Ensure the cake is fully baked by checking with a toothpick.
