Description

Fresh homemade lemonade made with real lemon juice, simple syrup, and cold water for a bright, sweet, and refreshing drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 46 lemons)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups cold water, divided
  • Lemon slices, for garnish
  • Ice cubes, for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar with 1 cup of water in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves to make a simple syrup.
  3. Let the syrup cool slightly, then pour it into a large pitcher.
  4. Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the remaining 4 cups of cold water.
  5. Stir well and taste, adjusting with extra sugar or water if desired.
  6. Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Serve over ice with lemon slices for garnish.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemon juice for the brightest flavor.
  • Add fresh mint for a cooling herbal twist.
  • Replace some cold water with sparkling water for a fizzy version.
  • Blend in strawberries or raspberries for a fruity lemonade.
  • Store leftovers in a covered pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and stir before serving.
