Ingredients
- 200 g cream cheese, softened
- 100 g unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups (240 g) powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Beat the softened cream cheese and butter together in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition until the frosting is thick and smooth.
- Add the lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
- Continue beating until the frosting is fully combined and fluffy.
- If the frosting is too soft, chill it for 15–20 minutes. If too thick, add a small amount of lemon juice to adjust the consistency.
Notes
- Add extra lemon zest for a stronger citrus flavor.
- Mix in a little whipped cream for a lighter texture.
- Try orange or lime zest for a different citrus variation.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Let it come to room temperature and re-mix before using.
- Not recommended for freezing as texture may change.
