Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups M&M candies
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, then mix until fully combined.
- Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until a thick dough forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and most of the M&M candies, saving a handful for the top.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle the remaining candies over the surface.
- Bake the bars for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
- Let the bars cool completely before slicing them into squares.
Notes
- Do not overbake the bars to keep them soft and chewy.
- Use seasonal M&M candies for holiday-themed cookie bars.
- White chocolate chips or peanut butter chips can be substituted for chocolate chips.
