Description

A classic sloppy joes recipe featuring a rich, tangy, and slightly sweet ground beef filling served on soft toasted buns for a hearty and comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute.
  5. Add ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, pepper, paprika, and water.
  6. Mix well and let the mixture simmer for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
  7. Lightly toast the hamburger buns.
  8. Spoon the meat mixture onto buns and serve warm.
