Description
A creamy and flavorful homemade hummus made with simple pantry ingredients, perfect as a dip, spread, or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 can (400 g) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2–4 tablespoons cold water
- Optional toppings:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Add chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and salt to a food processor or blender.
- Blend until mostly smooth.
- Slowly add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the hummus reaches a creamy consistency.
- Scrape down the sides as needed and continue blending until silky smooth.
- Transfer hummus to a serving bowl.
- Drizzle with olive oil and garnish with paprika and fresh parsley if desired.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- Blend longer for an extra creamy texture.
- Peeling chickpeas can make the hummus smoother.
- Roasted garlic or roasted red peppers make great flavor variations.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Serve with pita bread, vegetables, crackers, or sandwiches.
