Description
A bright and easy fresh tomato salsa made with ripe tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, cilantro, garlic, and lime juice. Perfect with chips, tacos, burritos, grilled meats, or eggs.
Ingredients
- 6 medium ripe tomatoes, diced
- 1 small white onion, finely chopped
- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Wash and dice the tomatoes into small pieces.
- Finely chop the onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and garlic.
- Place all chopped ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
- Add the lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
- Gently stir until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Refrigerate the salsa for at least 20 minutes to let the flavors blend.
- Serve chilled with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, or grilled dishes.
Notes
- Use Roma tomatoes for a firmer, less watery salsa.
- For a milder salsa, remove the jalapeño seeds and membranes or omit the pepper.
- For extra heat, add another jalapeño or a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes.
- Add diced avocado, corn, black beans, or mango for variation.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Stir before serving, as tomatoes may release liquid while chilling.
- This salsa is best enjoyed fresh and should not be reheated.
