Description

A bright and easy fresh tomato salsa made with ripe tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, cilantro, garlic, and lime juice. Perfect with chips, tacos, burritos, grilled meats, or eggs.


Ingredients

  • 6 medium ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 small white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash and dice the tomatoes into small pieces.
  2. Finely chop the onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and garlic.
  3. Place all chopped ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add the lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Gently stir until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  6. Refrigerate the salsa for at least 20 minutes to let the flavors blend.
  7. Serve chilled with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, or grilled dishes.

Notes

  • Use Roma tomatoes for a firmer, less watery salsa.
  • For a milder salsa, remove the jalapeño seeds and membranes or omit the pepper.
  • For extra heat, add another jalapeño or a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Add diced avocado, corn, black beans, or mango for variation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Stir before serving, as tomatoes may release liquid while chilling.
