Description
Walking Tacos are a quick, fun, and flavorful meal made with seasoned ground beef, crunchy chips, and fresh taco toppings served right inside individual chip bags. Perfect for parties, game nights, family dinners, or casual gatherings where everyone can customize their own taco.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (about 1 ounce)
- 2/3 cup water
- 8 individual snack-size bags corn chips or nacho cheese chips
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup diced red onion
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 jalapeño, sliced (optional)
- Salsa, for serving
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Drain any excess grease from the skillet, then stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for about 5 minutes until thickened.
- While the meat cooks, gently crush each bag of chips slightly so they are easier to eat.
- Open the chip bags and spoon the taco meat evenly into each one.
- Top each bag with shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, sour cream, olives, cilantro, and jalapeños if desired.
- Serve immediately with salsa on the side.
Notes
- Prepare toppings ahead of time for quick assembly.
- Keep chips separate until serving to maintain crunchiness.
- Ground turkey, shredded chicken, black beans, or lentils can be substituted for the beef.
- Customize with toppings like guacamole, corn, or pickled jalapeños.
- Taco meat can be frozen for up to 3 months.
